Essential oils vs. whole botanical infusions

Nature has long been our skin’s best friend, and at Bathers Balm, we celebrate the power of plants in every product. From delicate floral infusions to potent essential oils, we carefully choose our botanicals based on what your skin truly needs—because not all natural ingredients are created equal, and each has its place.

Let’s talk about flower infusions. These are made by gently steeping dried botanicals—like chamomile, hibiscus, or calendula—in nourishing oils over time. The process is slow, soft, and beautifully simple. Infusions capture the whole essence of the plant, including its vitamins, antioxidants, and calming compounds, in a skin-friendly, low-concentration form. They’re perfect for sensitive skin, daily use, and anyone seeking a gentle, nourishing experience without the risk of irritation.

On the other side, we have essential oils—highly concentrated plant extracts obtained through distillation. Just a few drops can bring a balm to life with their scent and therapeutic properties. From anti-inflammatory blue tansy to clarifying rosemary or calming lavender, essential oils offer targeted skincare benefits—but with great power comes great responsibility. Because they’re so potent, they must be used mindfully and in safe concentrations, especially on delicate or reactive skin.

At Bathers Balm, we use both. Flower infusions form the base of our most soothing, all-purpose balms, where calm and comfort are the priority. Essential oils shine in our more targeted blends—like those designed to refine, revive, or restore skin with specific needs.

Choosing between them depends on your skin and your moment. Looking for gentle, barrier-loving hydration? Go for infusions. Want more active, plant-powered performance? Look to essential oils.

Both are beautiful. Both are natural. And both have a place in the kind of skincare that listens to your skin instead of overpowering it.
